Scream and Scream Again: In his 2001 book American Hardcore, author Steven Blush said of DC band Scream, “Scream was one of the most impressive outfits of the HC era. Unlike many of their contemporaries, Scream had a singer who could actually sing, and the band could actually play.”Based on their set at Zebulon on Friday night, that still holds true today. According to that same book, the band eventually dissolved because of bassist Skeeter Thompson’s drug habit. The drummer at the time, one Dave Grohl, would make his way to Seattle to join Nirvana, while the brothers Stahl (singer Pete and guitarist Franz) would form Wool. Franz would later join Grohl’s Foo Fighters for a couple of years. Bobby Weir has been playing in bands for some 60 years.Yet, the Grateful Dead legend has probably never played in one in the Bay Area quite like the one on Sunday night at the Frost Amphitheater on the Stanford University Campus.The 76-year-old San Francisco native, who was raised in Atherton and has long called Marin County home, was joined onstage by an enormous number of people for this two-set show that drew a full house to one of the most beautiful concert settings in all of California.First off, he was accompanied by his regular Wolf Bros band — with the supersized lineup of Don Was on double bass, Jay Lane on drums, Jeff Chimenti on keyboard and Barry Sless on pedal steel guitar. (AP) — New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been cleared to return to the lineup after missing three games with a neck injury.Coach Brian Daboll said Monday that Jones was seen by a spine surgeon on Sunday before the game against the Jets and was cleared to have contact. The coach expects Jones to practice fully on Wednesday.Jones had been ruled out of the Jets game on Friday so he was not eligible to play in the 13-10 overtime loss. DENVER (KDVR) -- Ski areas are starting to open after the snowstorm in Colorado this weekend. Keystone received more than a foot of snow this weekend, and the area just announced its opening day.Arapahoe Basin started the lifts on Sunday, Oct. 29, getting to be the first ski area to open its doors in Colorado. Keystone will be the second resort to open this year on Nov. 1. 2023 Colorado ski areas opening dates Two miles of Schoolmarm and Silver Spoon trails will be open along with a hike-to terrain park on Spring Dipper and a learning terrain at the top of the River Run Gondola.Keystone is aiming to open the Mountain House base area in mid-November, depending on the weather.Also coming later this season is a six-person lift that allows access to 550 acres and 16 trails in Bergman and Erickson Bowls.While not all the trails are open, Keystone has snow and it will be opening at the start of November.
